The "Hotel Roffers" began construction in 1908 and was completed in 1912, as the front of our building tells you. It served West DePere as the railroad hotel for travelers arriving by train at the depot that was located across the street.

The Hotel Roffers had 23 rooms on the second floor. Living quarters, a bar, the hotellobby, a dinig room, and a barbershop all on the first floor. The cost of a room was $1.50 daily or $6.00 weekly and included one meal each day.

The bar room had a distinguishing factor to it compared on the modern day bar. Women were not allowed in the bar at all. They had to walk to the side door and sit in what thy called the "booth room" just off the bar. The men than went to meet the ladies sitting in the booth and brought them drinks from the bar. The "booth room" was eventually re-named by many as the "feeling room" because according to the guys, more than just polite conversation and casual drinking went on in those booths. Although we no longer have a booth or feeling room, our new bar will offer our customers a friendly and unique venue for fun and entertainment.
